Plastic surgery is a surgical procedure for physical restorations and transformations. Currently, plastic surgery is a well known process, especially for people who wish to change their unwanted physical appearances. Although, this procedure can be satisfying at first, risks and complications would come in a least unexpected time and ways.
There are a lot of stories in different media such as televisions, radios and even in the internet, where people who have undergone plastic surgery file cases against the surgeon who operated them. The reasons for these are the negative effects caused by the operations.
People must be aware of the complications of plastic surgery, so that they would think twice about undergoing this risky operation. Here are the complications that people might experience when they would undergo plastic surgery.
Excessive Blood Loss
When undergoing a plastic surgery, bleeding is just normal. This is because surgeons are manipulating the skin components in order to obtain the goal of having the surgery. However, excessive blood loss is very much unusual. Excessive bleeding may be caused by faulty opening of the skin performed by a careless surgeon. If you have a low hemoglobin level, it would be too risky for you to have a plastic surgery because you might end up losing a large amount of blood and your body could not take it.
Blood Clot
Plastic surgery can also cause a blood clot. Since a part of the skin taken off to restore the damaged part of your body must be capable of letting the blood flow normally to your reconstructed body part, there are instances that the surgeon fails. A surgeon might have removed a dead part of the skin or may be the skin’s capability to make a normal blood flow is weak. This will eventually cause a blood clot.
Infection
This is the most common case when it comes to performing plastic surgery. The infection may be due to unsterilized surgical tools or dirty hand of the surgeon. Infections can also be taken from the outside environment such as dust and other harmful elements we get from our environment. Sometimes, infections are due to the medicines used in doing the plastic surgery.
Severe Hypothermia
This is a condition where the body of the person reaches a lower level than the normal 37 degree Celsius of our body. This is due to excessive blood loss during the surgery.
These are the major complications of plastic surgery. So, the decision is yours now. Are you brave enough to face the consequences? Think of it!
What people should know about Plastic Surgery?
Nowadays, plastic surgery is a very common procedure applied to people who have physical defects, and some for physical transformation and improvement. Although, undergoing plastic surgery procedures would mean risks, many people would still take it as something that could give them satisfaction. Admit it or not, most people wish to look good for various reasons. These reasons may be because of something or someone, but ultimately, they all want to have more confidence and self fulfillment.
Although plastic surgery is often associated with enhancement of physical appearance, there are also instances that plastic surgery is a need. For example, a person who has cleft lips needs plastic surgery to be able to speak well. This is a need for someone who wants to really communicate well. This example would show that plastic surgery doesn’t always mean a want, but it can also be a need.
Plastic surgery is also called as reconstructive surgery. This is a field of medicine concerned with the surgical restoration of the body’s form or function. Plastic surgery has been practiced for many years, but, only modern techniques have their basis of treating terrible injuries. There are two types of plastic surgery, the reconstructive plastic surgery and the cosmetic plastic surgery.
Reconstructive Plastic Surgery
Reconstructive surgery is a type of plastic surgery, which focuses on restoration of normal body part formations. There are different ways on how reconstructive surgeries are applied to different cases of deformations. For example, burns where skin is the main affected part, surgeons use skin grafts and skin flaps using a deep layer skin and tissue with complete blood supply to replace a damaged skin. In cases where body parts are terribly injured caused by accidents, reconstructive surgery can also be applied. For an instance that the nose has been deformed, it can be rebuilt with portions taken from a rib. Reconstructive surgery is a needed plastic surgery.
This is a type of plastic surgery, which is performed to enhance or improve physical appearances by changing unwanted body parts of a person. Cosmetic surgery is more common to people who want to improve their self confidence by changing their appearances. These people want to look better for a career, work, etc. Most common cosmetic surgeries are reshaping of the nose called rhinoplasty, breast enlargement or reduction called mammoplasty, and the removal of pockets of fat from the body called liposuction. There are also different types of surgery like lasers to remove unwanted hairs growing from a certain part of the body. Cosmetic Plastic Surgery is a wanted plastic surgery.

Great hub BlueBlink, plastic surgery is often portrayed as glamorous with no complications what-so-ever, i.e. Extreme Makeover. But in reality, like you have pointed out, there are a lot of complications that can happen. Quite a few Australians make the journey to Asian countries to get cheaper procedures done, also making a holiday out of it. When they get home infections can leave them in dire situations where they have to get expensive repair work done.
